Who are The Grand Democrats?
We are your like-minded neighbors and friends living in The Grand and Guest members from neighboring communities. We are about 2600 active Democrats in The Grand among 36,000 Democrats residing in our Arizona Legislative District 29, which is one of 30 LDs in the State.
Our Club was formed over 20 years ago and continues today as an active Interest Group within The Grand Homeowners Association. We are also formally registered with the Arizona Secretary of State and Maricopa County as a Political Action Committee (PAC). We reside in Congressional District 8 and AZ Legislative District 29 (LD29), which is our local Democratic Party. We volunteer with LD29 volunteers to canvas, phone bank, text bank, post carding and other Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) programs to encourage voting.

We encourage our members to become Precinct Committeepeople (PCs) within LD29 and attend informative meetings of both Grand Dems and LD29 Democratic Party. Members residing in Grand pay dues. Guest Members living outside of Grand, make an annual donation equivalent to Member dues. Both Resident Members and Guest Members participate in our many activities. Fundraising events, in addition to dues, help pay for club expenses and provide funds to financially support Democratic Party organizations and candidates.
Our Mission
To establish a strong progressive presence in the community in order to ensure a voice in local Democratic politics; to prepare for upcoming elections by supporting local and national Democratic candidates; to develop relationships with state officials holding democratic values; and to inform members about important government issues and actions.
How We Implement Our Mission
We invite dynamic speakers to our General Meetings who offer important insights into social and political issues of the day. During campaign season, political candidates and activist groups present their platforms and propositions. They also offer opportunities to sign candidates nominating petitions and organization-sponsored propositions as well as to volunteer for their organization. Save Our Schools, Health Care Rising and Stop Dark Money are examples of Propositions our membership have supported. As a Political Action Committee (PAC), we fund raise through events and our Victory Fund campaign to support Democratic Parties and candidates.
Candidate Rallies and Town Halls
Grand Democrats, in conjunction with neighboring Democratic Clubs and Legislative Districts (LDs), has traditionally sponsored a candidate rally held at The Grand. Invited guests include all Democratic Candidates, Federal, State, County and Local, as well as Democratic leaning nonpartisan candidates, running for office each election year.
Further, Grand Democrats are encouraged to attend meetings of our local Democratic Party-Legislative District 29 (LD29). Because The Grand is in three AZ Precincts within LD29 (Grand, Granite Falls and La Solana), we have elected and appointed Precinct Committeepersons (PC) serving as contacts for the local party within their Precinct. Consider becoming a PC.
